Judgements from a range of work

‘At the end of a unit of work we make a summative judgement of their knowledge-based skills and their enquiry skills and to do that we would look at our annotated planning and a range of evidence for each child. So in Key Stage 2, I tend to look in their books and then note any relevant observations on the planning if they’re child-specific. Annotated samples of work are useful to remind us of the context of the task and our provisional judgement. If we have several annotated samples for a child we can review progress but also make an overall judgement based on their performance in a range of contexts.‘
