Investigations don’t always go to plan, the skill is to use this to advance learning. By providing children with key questions to reflect on the investigation the teacher is able to advance the learning.

In this investigation they were trying to find out which was the ‘best’ car. On completion of the ‘testing’ this was not evident. The key questions prompted the children to consider the trustworthiness of their results and to think about what they could do to ensure more reliable data.
