Teachers are finding new ways to elicit pupil ideas during remote learning. For example, Becci Riley used an odd one out activity from Explorify to stimulate a discussion around their new Forces topic with her class, who were based at home due to Covid-19 school closures. She asked them to explain their reasoning on a padlet (see photo below) and in this way was able to gather initial ideas from the majority of her class.
In another lesson she challenged her children, working in class and tuned in online, to take a picture that showed gravity and upload it. This enabled her to identify children’s ideas and misconceptions.
