Notice and next

When teachers reflect after a lesson, useful prompts can be to consider:

– What did/do I notice about the children’s ideas/outcomes?

– What do they need to do next?

For example, after a lesson on paper spinners, this Year 6 teacher noticed that the pupils had kept the size of the spinners the same, but had not really taken other variables into consideration. They had also shown awareness of averages, but not full understanding, providing a choice of areas to focus on in the next investigation.
